HUGH ALAN CORNWELL b: AUG 28TH '49

VOCALS AND GUITAR FOR THE STRANGLERS - 1974-1990 (QUIT)

Welcome to Hugh's page! Born in Tufnell Park, North London, Cornwell grew up in a relatively middle-class household. He developed an early interest in music and was influenced by artists like Bob Dylan and The Doors. He studied biochemistry at Bristol University, where he earned a degree.

Before music became his full-time path, he worked as a research scientist in Sweden. While in Sweden, he played in a band called Johnny Sox.

Upon returning to the U.K., he reassembled the group with new members, eventually forming what became The Stranglers with Jet Black, Jean-Jacques Burnel, and Dave Greenfield.
